A/C Installation Checklist
What happens during your A/C installation of a new unit
-
The technician will turn off the power to your old unit
-
He will drain any refrigerant from it before actually taking it apart
-
Old copper refrigerate lines are cut and cleaned for reuse
-
Many times the line set (copper lines, condensate lines and thermostat wire) are replaced with new installation
-
Once the old unit is removed, your new one will be installed.
-
Sometimes new electrical breakers are needed if the new A/C unit requires different amperage.
-
You may want to upgrade your thermostat with the new system.
-
Depending on the scope of the project, your duct-work may need to be repaired or replaced
-
In Florida we put the outdoor unit on concrete hurricane pad with clips to hold it down
-
Florida requires a UV protective armor flex on exposed copper lines outside
-
Vacuum out condenser
-
Before everything is wrapped up locking caps are put on charging ports to discourage tampering
-
Refrigerant charge will be checked after installation
